My stepdaughter has been keeping a diary for years. I always thought it was cute, how she would retreat to a corner and spend hours writing about what I could only assume was her latest boyfriend. One day, I happened to find her diary laying on the couch in the family room and picked it up. I know it's not right to read someone's private thoughts, but I didn't see any harm in reading about her young crush of the moment. I know she would probably kill me if she knew I was reading it, so I took the book into my bedroom to find out what she had written.
